The Simplest one is mentioned here but Please read the comments below the post- lot of ways have been mentioned to switch back to Yahoo Mail Classic !
Steps :
1) Disable Java Script in your Browser !
2) Open Yahoo Mail ! ; It will say something like “Javascript not enables, do you want to Switch Back to Yahoo Mail Classic” or something like that !
3) GO Ahead and do that !
4) (optional) Enable Java Script !
Enjoy the Yahoo Mail Classic ! 🙂
PS : After enabling Java Script, if at a later stage, if the New Yahoo Mail shows up, don’ worry Just repeat the above process ! I personally had to do it 10 – 15 times and after which the New Yahoo Mail never showed up !
This technique mentioned below does not work anymore !
Yahoo has now introduced yet another Mail beta which is largely better that the previous. But, in case you want to switch back Mail Classic – the procedure is a little different now. Earlier, there was an option below the Yahoo Mail Beta Icon, “Switch to Mail Classic“. But now this has moved to Help Menu at the top left. Click on the drop down to find an option called “Return to Original Mail“. The snapshot below will help you understand things better.
How to Switch to Yahoo Mail Classic from the New Yahoo Beta Mail ……
Here at World Spinner we are debating the same thing……
Hi every one there is one way bu any one can switch back from new yahoo mail beta to its classic version, For this you should first uninstall ur latest IE then try to install IE 5/6 or older, then open ur yahoomail a/c, after this it ask for switch back to older version….it worked for me
There IS an answer to this, because I too was pissed and searching for help. I found it here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=At_iV7C3tgY50fbaxC04RJsjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20110814212814AAh1PMz
To go back to YAHOO! MAIL CLASSIC…
Turn off Javascript – you’ll then be asked if you want to return to Mail Classic, click “yes”.
If you don’t know how to turn off Javascript…
For SAFARI: Open SETTINGS>click PREFERENCES>>click SECURITY>>Uncheck ENABLE JAVA and ENABLE JAVASCRIPT
IMPORTANT:Remember to RE-ENABLE JAVA and JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won’t work.
For IE: Open TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS >> SECURITY. In security click “CUSTOM LEVEL” -> disable active scripting in the scripting section.
IMPORTANT:Remember to turn JAVASCRIPTING back ON when you are back in Mail Classic because without it some mail functions won’t work.
For FIREFOX: Open TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> CONTENT, click on “DISABLE JAVASCRIPT”. Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in Yahoo! email in order to switch back… In the options, click (PERMANENT) to switch back to YAHOO! Classic. DO NOT click the “ONE TIME ONLY” option.
IMPORTANT: Turn JAVASCRIPT back ON once you have your “CLASSIC” account back.
Thank u very much after a long fighting with this issue i have succeeded by the above solution.
thank u so much…it worked….
Thank you Very it helped me a lot.
Thanks dude it worked …..
Thank you!!! It worked!!! 🙂 XD
Thank you for your insight. Yahoo obviously wants to force the new mail on us, not letting us know that we can switch to the Classic.
THANK YOU! I have been battling this for about 2 days. Someone clicked the “okay” to upgrade. TICKED ME OFF! Yahoo removed the button that allowed you to change back. THANKS AGAIN!
I so thank you for your help! It was the answer to prayer. God bless you bunches!
Thanks Adam, worked perfectly! For Mac Firefox users: Instead of Tools -> Options, go to Firefox -> Preferences… -> Content -> Un-check “Enable JavaScript”.

Next question… does anyone know how to get rid of the “You’re Invited to Upgrade” page that now opens up every time I click on “Mail” ? I am clicking on “No thanks, Continue to Yahoo! Mail Classic”, but it would be nice if I didn’t have to do that every time I try to access my email. Thanks!

Yes.. It’s Worked.. Thank you..
I am not able to switch back to my classic yahoo mail. I am so sad i hate this new version. Please help. I have tried just about everything
Easy peasy……. change your screen resolution to the lowest setting. Then go to this link and click on the request to update to the new yahoo mail . When you do that, it will tell you that it can’t because the screen resolution is too small, and you will be given the option to revert back to classic. Takes about 30 seconds total to do.

THEY HAVE MADE BETA MANDATORY. No button to switch to classic is under options, nor is there a return to original under Help. If it is here, they have hidden it. If I do not figure out how to switch to classic, i am trashing yahoo and going to hotmail.
Did you get it sorted out as I am trying desperaterly to go back to classic mail too and all links to do so have been removed as they are trying to keep us on beta. and I hate it.
thanks
Av
What worked for me was using firefox, going to my tools, then content, and disabling Java. When you go to log into Yahoo it says you need Java to use Yahoo, and it will let you go back to the classic version.
Go back in an enable java after you’ve logged back in –Really it works
Excellent! Works perfect. Thank You
I had to Firefox preferences and not tools to disable Java, but this totally worked for me. Thank you so much.

I’m never switching again. I don’t care how much better they claim it is.
Thanks!
Thank you man, this works 100%. When you do that it shows you 2 options you can choose that only once you’d like to return to classic or other one and i choose other so i’m back to classic one.
Thanks it is working

no such button appears on my yahoo mail…i’ve closed & opened my yahoo mail a couple of times already because a mozilla crash reporter always pops out after a few minutes.
What worked for me was using firefox, going to my tools, then content, and disabling Java. When you go to log into Yahoo it says you need Java to use Yahoo, and it will let you go back to the classic version.

It,s really working just copy this link below your mail classic automatic will come
Thank you very much but it works only when I click recommended link. When I try to sign in again, new yahoo mail appears again. Sick!!!
Any idea, guys? Thanks a lot.
Forgot to say that when new yahoo mail appears again, there are no messages anymore. Just empty new yahoo mail. When opened through google, messages are there. So…?
Thanks, it really worked, I was almost cancelling my Yahoo!Mail
Thanks a lot bro….it worked…. So easy.
To at least get back to Mail Classic: lower your screen resolution, and as soon as it’s too low for the new mail, you will get a message displayed asking if you want to switch to Mail Classic. Click “yes”. Of course you can switch back to your original screen resolution once you have mail classic back..:-)
– zaain
THANK you soo much! this one was the easiest fix that stayed. I have google chrome and couldn’t find directions how to do the other options.
Thanks, you guys! It worked!!
No thanks to the assholes at yahoo who wouldnt tell me how to switch back!!!
The above options no longer seem to work, but this did:
Turning off Javascript or lowering screen resolution may get you back. (See end for how to turn off Javascript)
How to turn off Javascript.
If you are using Internet Explorer go to tools > internet options > security. Click on the “Custom Level” button, go to the scripting section and disable active scripting. Once done you can return to the previous settings.
If you are using Firefox go to tools > options ↬ content. Click on disable Javascript. Once done turn it back on.
The IE fix doesn’t work. When you go to Yahoo Mail, the posts don’t show and the site hangs.
Thnx all, for sharing the very gud option Javascript, it real work, now im happy bcz i have gotten back my yahoo classic
thank youuuuuuuu, it’s working)) uraa!!! download firefox – open firefox browser-top left button FIREFOX-TOOLS-TOOLS-disable JAVA (just remoove tick)-OK-OPEN MAIL YAHOO-RETURN TO CLASSIC MAIL…and everybody is happy)
YAY! It worked via Firefox and disabling Javascript as instructed by many nice helpful people here. Thank you all.
Wow!!! It worked!!
Thank you so much Dilip Joshi I’m so happy to be back to the classic!!!
Dilip Joshi says:

Go back in an enable java after you’ve logged back in –Really it works
by now (7/19) Yahoo seems to have caught on to the “workaround” with disabling Java… I have tried several times (including deleting all cookies) and can;t seem to get back to Yahoo mail classic. Any other suggestions?
HI Linda
Try this :
To at least get back to Mail Classic: lower your screen resolution, and as soon as it’s too low for the new mail, you will get a message displayed asking if you want to switch to Mail Classic. Click “yes”. Of course you can switch back to your original screen resolution once you have mail classic back..:-)
Yahoo still messing with e-mail?
I’m back to Classic but can’t compose or reply and my draft folder e-mails I can’t even see!! What gives? Only thing I am able to do is read in coming mail, that’s all.
Thank you all for the tips, I’m back to mail classic! Just in case others use safari instead of firefox, go to safari, preferences, security and under web content you’ll find the option to enable or not javascript. Remove the tick and ta da, you’re back to classic.
It IS possible to revert to the previous version of Yahoo Mail. Here’s how….
1) Right-click on the desktop.
2) Click on Screen Resolution
3) Reduce the Resolution to 800×600 and press OK. Keep changes.
4) Sign into Yahoo Mail.
5) After a few seconds, a message will come up, saying there is a problem with the resolution.
6) Scroll down and you will find an option to change back to the previous version of YahooMail
7) Click the option and Hey Presto!
8) Revert your screen resolution back to it’s highest settings and you’re done.
Remember:
Changing the screen resolution will very likely rearrange your desktop icons and you will have to resort them after you went through the steps listed above.
Excellent and thanks the Firefox and Java Enabling worked
It is rubbish the yahoo new version slowest ever
I want you to know that I can always go to another mail system I have asked for you to help me with switching back to Mail Classic I do not like this new Beta, if you like it then you use it, but I can see now there is more complaints than just mine I hate your Beta I hope it will go under.
hi Betty,
Try this
To at least get back to Mail Classic: lower your screen resolution, and as soon as it’s too low for the new mail, you will get a message displayed asking if you want to switch to Mail Classic. Click “yes”. Of course you can switch back to your original screen resolution once you have mail classic back..:-)
to downgrade your new yahoo mail to yahoo mail classic, just change the screen resolution to 600×800 and then go to yahoo mail. after loading, the switch back link will appear below. and presto!you can change back to yahoo mail classic.
Cool… disabling java on firefox worked.. Thanks.
I dont have that option in my Google chrome browser……… to downgrade any other option praveen?
Try doing it in other browser (Firefox preferably)… and I think the mail classic will be reflected in all the browser 🙂
No, it doesn’t. I fixed it in Firefox, but I still get the new FUBARD version in IE.
well, the fix to downoad firefox for temp use, and disable java and all, then go bk to ie7 worked to get the classic back. it was such a pain til i found your wizardly forum/blog.
now, i do not seem to stay signed it. major rubbish to have to enter log in every single time i have closed page or laptop and want to ck mail, which i do a lot- prolly 2 much.
there was a decent deal w/ yahoo classic (the word classic said it all – it was a tried and true classic), but now some a-holes at yahoo decide to wreck a good thing. ackkkkkk. how to stay signed in? i tried blocking the new email sign in page and allowing thru tools/privacy cookies from just the old classic pg but this has been doing my head in and today has been a crap day anyway w/ MUCH more imp things to deal with than the pissants at yahoo.
i am a luddite for sure, btw way. i wish i could borrow your brain. i have a totally different skill-set in life than IT and i am in awe of you and the other experts on here.
i read that i could chat w/ a yahoo rep, but i thought if i did i would probably suffer an explosion of my head. they shd have left well enuf the hell alone. grrrrrrrrrr. thanks again.
I hate Bitter Mail (Beta) and it is miserable to use..Yahoo has blocked every way I have tried to use the Classic–they are forcing me to drop them after many years!
I have spent many days and hours trying to get rid of this horible Virus (Beta) need I say more! Enough already!
Maintain up the great work mate. This weblog publish shows how well you realize and know this subject.
thanks

HI Myers

Lowering the resolution works in Firefox, but it’s not working for IE anymore, at least not for me.
In the meantime, I’ve made this link my homepage:
http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome
There is no such option in Help menu. I want to get back to the original email, which is far better than beta. thanks
Log in every time with this (official) link and you’ll use previous Yahoo every time:
http://in.mc1201.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome
Thanks to guy who posted this link! Works for me perfectly! You could bookmark this link to make it easier. If you use Opera, put it in Speed Dial.
In FireFox: Tools > Options > Content > uncheck Enable JavaScript > log back into Yahoo, you should see an error message with a link to return to previous version of Yahoo mail
you would think yahoo would see this and give the option back…
The deal is they want you to agree to terms of service that say they scan and analyze all your mail in order to get advertisers to pay a bonus to them for directed ads.
Hello,
Thanks for your post ya its work fine after javascript disable i am able to switch to yahoo mail classic than again i enable javascript.
mail.yahoo.classic seems easier to me as I can see sender at a time moreover, I’m familiar with the system.
Hi… everyone, if you want to switch the newest Yahoo! Mail to Yahoo! Mail Classic permanently, you can visit my blog to follow my 2 easy step instructions.
http://www.novrizalproject.co.cc/2011/08/how-to-switch-newest-yahoo-mail-to.html
The idea given by you doesnt work. Check out the following. In mozilla go to Tools–>options–>content–>disable java script. If you do this immediately yahoo recommends you to change to classic menu. simple..
I had the same problem of getting back to mail classic, I used very slow internet, and a message blow up, asked me if I want to get back to Yahoo classic mail or to continue anyway…
Hi I tried disabling Java script and screen resloution thing nothingworked for me pls help I hate this Yahoo Beta version
The lowering of the screen resolution does work…try it again. (WinXP)
1. Make sure you are logged out of mail and your browser.
2. Right click anywhere on your desktop. A pane will appear and
choose “Properties”.
3. A “Display Properties” box should appear. Click on Settings tab.
4. Slide the Screen resolution bar LEFT to 800 X 600 pixels.
Remember the original settings before sliding bar LEFT.
5. Press Apply and OK. Your desktop, icons, and windows will all
appear huge.
6 Open your browser and log into your mail. You will have to be creative
to navigate through the “large” icons and windows.
7. Once you have logged in to your Yahoo email you will receive a message
saying your screen resolution will not work with the current mail.
You will be given a choice to return to the old Classic Yahoo mail.
8. Choose to return and “Classic” email should now appear before you.
Now close your Yahoo Classic email and browser.
9. Now right click anywhere on your desktop, as you did in step 2 above,
and return to the “Display properties” box.
10. Go to “Settings” tab, slide the screen resolution bar back to the original
position you remembered in step “D” above. Press Apply and OK.
11. You should now have your original screen resolution before you
started this procedure. Open your browser and email and you should
now have Yahoo “Classic” email back, each and every time.
Cheers
Adam, Thank you! The new Yahoo really broke things, disabling javascript let me return.
One more reason to migrate everything out of my yahoo account and into gmail.
Great Mr.Adam, Thanks its working fine. 🙂
Finally i can switch back to my yahoo mail classic. Turn Off Javascript trick works well for me. Thanks to Adam L for his comment.
one more solution to switch back to yahoo classic is:
Change you screen resolution to 800*600
Try to login again on yahoo mail,This time it will ask you to change the screen resolution to proceed and will also give options at the right bottom to go back to older version once or permanently. So do select the second option.
Now change the screen resolution to original settings and log in again on yahoo. And you are done. 🙂
Sorry dear, I couldn’t found your original by clicking help, where you have found that, (by clicking I got another option >) even though thanks a lot for your suggestion. but I cant envisage how yahoo provide this 3rd class mail services to his client one kind of by force , why they didn’t check it before provide this service a lot of clients in world wide, I am sure that every one who bound to upgrade this new version beta mail ( 3rd class) are doing suffering, however still they are quiet like stupid, yahoo should without delay take indispensable stroke for change it by some why when they provide the 3rd services,( new version beta mail) open each mail showing an add upgrade a new version? , like do those back to classic? or previous version?, last 10 days I couldn’t open not a single mail , when click a mail then hang, nothing to say to yahoo, only inform to yahoo most of the people prefer Google, due to your ugly and nonsense services, Google is most popular in the world, I wish to Google good luck in future ,
Thank you

Once you get your old Yahoo Mail back, protect yourself for next time.
Open your Yahoo inbox, and put that page in favorites. Make a desktop icon with that favorite and also email that favorite to every web mail account you have [for me it was Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, Charter]. Wife or girlfriend? Use her’s too. That way if you ever lose you desktop icon by accident, HD failure, etc, you can always get to any of your web mails and bingo, a new [old] icon is reborn from those hidden url’s.
T’care,
Mike
The main reason I cannot use the new Yahoo is because it no longer shows the file size of each email at a glance in the inbox [far right]. This is critical for me because several people on my daily mailing list are [honest to God] still are stuck with dial up way out in the sticks with no broadband available whatsoever. Any mailing over 1.5mb cannot be sent to them. And having to open each and every email to first find it’s size is totally unacceptable for me. Have no idea why they dropped that file size feature.

ohhhhhhhhh yessssss this process has worked for me ::::For FIREFOX: Open TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> CONTENT, click on “DISABLE JAVASCRIPT”. Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in Yahoo! email in order to switch back… In the options, click (PERMANENT) to switch back to YAHOO! Classic. DO NOT click the “ONE TIME ONLY” option.
IMPORTANT: Turn JAVASCRIPT back ON once you have your “CLASSIC” account back.
i want to switch my account to classic
This information is outdated. The newest version of this wretched Yahoo Beta Mail took out the “Retrun To Original Mail” off of the help section. And there appears to be no way of getting back to the more reliable and user-friendly Yahoo Classic Mail, and believe me, I’ve been ckecking every angle. I am very disappointed in Yahoo. It seems as though they don’t want to give people a choice. They’re making it very hard to stay with them.
Please read the comment in the post… !! Lot of awesome techniques mentioned… ! 🙂 Disable your JavaScript…. the easiest !!
It is gr8 thnx a lot dear

I am putting this along with my collection ! Post more… if you have 🙂
Thank you soo much!
Thank you. you made an yahoo id.
Hey, I would also like to thank you for your post. This is the only one that helped me to get back to my Yahoo! view. Why don’t you place a “thumb-up” button?
There is a “thumb-up” button. I am surprised how you missed it 🙂
I have previously reverted back to YaHoo Classic. On these emails when I login I am taken directly to my mailbox.
My YaHoo accounts I have just reverted respond differently when I log in. On these accounts when I log in I am taken to the YaHoo homepage. I must “click” the mail button in the upper right hand corner of the page to enter my mail box.
Does anyone have a method for setting my emails to avoid the homepage upon login and go directly to my mailbox?
Sure Brenda,
Open the inbox page you want. Add that page to your favorites. Now, go into your favorites and right click that new favorite you just made. Click “send to”, click “Desktop [create shortcut]”. That should give you a new icon on you desktop screen. Always use that icon to open your Yahoo mail and you should open with your inbox every time. Rename it as desired. Mine is “My Yahoo inbox”.
Bestaluck
Mike

Yahoo Discontinues Messenger in CLASSIC MAIL!!!!
Well I guess that’s it!!! Now how are we going get around this one?
If you have classic they will cut you off of messenger!!
Messenger in Yahoo! Mail Classic to be shut down!!!
At Yahoo!, we’re focused on making your daily habits more inspiring and entertaining. That means we’re constantly reviewing our products and experiences and in some cases, have to make tough decisions to no longer support a product.
After much thought, we have decided to shut down Messenger in Yahoo! Mail Classic by March 22, 2013. This means that you will no longer be able to send IMs to your contacts from Yahoo! Mail Classic.
Please note that you still have two possible ways to use Yahoo! Messenger:
Upgrade to the new Yahoo! Mail, where Messenger continues to be available. You can then send IMs directly from your inbox, as you did before.
Use the Yahoo! Messenger client. If you don’t already have it, you can download the Yahoo! Messenger client here.
STFU Nikki. You all effed up yahoo classic and shut it down. Now STFU
Wow, you truly are an idiot, that message was copy/paste from the message
Yahoo sent out to it’s e-mail users and you thought I worked for them?
Now who needs to shut up? smh……
au.mc1214.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome
just copy and paste it in the address bar after logging in to the yahoo mail…
Thank you
Just click on this link EVERYTIME after login in yahoo mail :-

This has worked for me for a long time, but now every time I try to do a search, which was one of the main reasons for not switching because the search cannot be refined anymore, but now they won’t let me complete the search without giving me a page urging me to switch to the new Yahoo! email.
That was the worse thing they ever did with the new Yahoo!, stop the search from being refined. if one wants to find an email they sent to “John” for example, they must now just input “John” and every single time the name john is mentioned in any email whatsoever it comes up in the search!
So, instead of getting one or two results, there may be hundreds! This is just sooooooo stupid!
Not working anymore. Searched through many sites. Same tricks, none working. Then found some comments in the following article & I’m temporarily back to Classic Yahoo mail: http://www.technogadge.com/how-to-switch-back-to-yahoo-mail-classic/ But looks like soon that will be removed too.
Anyway, Yahoo will soon disable everything.
I have tried many times, but I cannot find the, “HELP” menu at the top left. Please advise, as I desperately want to return to Yahoo classic Mail. Thanks. Sonia
Well THAT’S IT I’m suck with the new YahooMail.
I couldn’t even look at it, so ugly and I miss my old look but at least
I can change the theme to a different color because that purple was just too
much.
Just change “launch” with “search” on URL after you login and it switch to clasic one with tabs. It work for me.
Returning to Yahoo Mail Classic
Uninstall Firefox without removing Personal Data and Bookmarks.
Install Firefox 14.0.1. or a version of Firefox that allows the user to Disable JavaScript
Click Tools; Options; Content; Remove Check Mark from Enable JavaScript.
Click OK.
Close and Restart Firefox.
Go to Yahoo Mail.
The following message appears: Yahoo recommends you upgrade your browser to enjoy all the features in the new Yahoo Mail.
Click Continue without upgrading.
Message appears: JavaScript is not enabled on your browser.
Click Continue without upgrading JavaScript.
Yahoo Mail Classic will appear.
JavaScript will be needed to click or remove Check Marks from selection boxes, so Click Tools; Options; Content; and insert a Check Mark in Enable JavaScript.
Enabling JavaScript will not affect Yahoo Mail Classic.
Upgrading Version 14.0.1 to the latest Version of Firefox will not affect Yahoo Mail Classic, although the option to Disable JavaScript will no longer be there in the latest versions.
Been with the new Yahoo Mail for awhile and I’m used to it.
New Yahoo Mail trying to be a like G-mail lol
I changed the theme and although it’s not the original I have grown
to luv it will do (like I have a choice).
I have been having a terrible time with the new Yahoo when forwarding links and photos. The links end up dead when they land at the other end [even the usual highlighting the link, then right clicking to open does not work. The links are just plain dead]. Often, the photos just are not received at all. I am probably going to move everything over to Hotmail/Outlook and shut the Yahoo account down. I really have no choice if Yahoo Mail is not reliable nor dependable anymore. Thank you G Praveen Kumar for the years of help!! Blessings to you.

@:Mike Reilly, feel bad for ya Mike! I just read my mail and send mail, that’s it,
never used any of the other features so far but now I know they may not work if
and when I do need them. Yahoo is trying to be someone they are not, the original will always be the best one.
